Collections, how the day works, and five things that make better photographs.
Everything below also lives in a fourteen-page guide, easy to share with whoever is helping you plan. Every photograph opens its full wedding.
Playa Avellanas, Costa Rica
The ones that look like a magazine, and the ones that look like your wedding. You get both, in one gallery.
Portraits with real composition and real light, made in twenty unhurried minutes. Around them, everything else: the look your best friend gave you during the vows, your grandmother on the dance floor, the place itself at its very best hour.
I photograph the day the way it felt, then edit it to look the way you remember it. Years from now, the gallery should put you right back inside it: the heat, the music, who was laughing at what.
You’ll be busy getting married. I’ll take care of the rest.
Before the wedding, we build the photography timeline together. I’ll ask about the family too, the things that never make it onto a schedule: who’s flying in from where, which aunt deserves her own portrait, and who will absolutely start the dancing.
On the day, I arrive early and stay light on my feet. If the ceremony starts late or the weather has its own ideas, I adjust quietly and you never hear about it. You get to be a guest at your own wedding, which is the best seat in the house.
Within a day, weekends aside.
Built together, around the light and what matters most to you.
10 to 15 photographs within 48 hours, in time to show off on the honeymoon.
Delivered in 6 to 8 weeks, with printing rights.
A limited number of weddings each year, so yours gets my complete attention.
“We loved having Margaux and felt so stress free throughout the entire day. She somehow made us feel like we were getting so many beautiful photos while still letting us be completely present in our wedding. When we saw the gallery, we were honestly blown away.”Kimberly + Jacob
For people who love being photographed, and especially for people who don’t.
Enough guidance that nobody wonders what to do with their hands. Then plenty of space for whatever is true to the two of you: elegant, funny, quiet, loud, all of it.
Portrait time should feel like part of the party, the twenty minutes where you finally get to look at each other. It’s also where the over-the-fireplace photographs come from.
“I usually hate having my picture taken … Margaux had me relaxed within like five minutes. She’s funny, she’s direct, and she tells you what to do without making it weird.”Hannah
Costa Rica, Mexico, the Bahamas, Tennessee, California, and home base in the Columbia River Gorge.
Ten minutes from home or a flight and a boat ride away, I plan the photography around the real logistics: travel days, multiple venues, the heat, the tide and the pace of the weekend.
I want your gallery to hold the place as much as the people: the landscape, the weather, the architecture, the food. Years of living and photographing weddings abroad taught me how a destination wedding actually runs, and how to keep one graceful when the boat is late.
“It was hot and windy and there was so much happening, but she never seemed stressed and somehow caught everything. I love that our photos actually feel like Costa Rica too — the light, the colors, the movement, all of it.”Sofía
The wedding is one day. The best stories usually take three.
The welcome party is where everyone is still meeting. The rehearsal dinner is where the best toasts happen. And by the farewell brunch, your two families look like they’ve known each other for years.
The Weekend and The Whole Trip cover all of it, with a second photographer so nothing important happens out of frame. For a destination wedding it’s the coverage I recommend most, because everyone flew a long way to be in these photographs.
None of them cost a thing. All of them show up in the gallery.
The hour before sunset is the most flattering light there is. I’ll help you put portraits there, even if it means nudging cocktail hour by twenty minutes.
Seeing each other before the ceremony frees up time for portraits and gets you to your own cocktail hour. Prefer to wait for the aisle? We’ll plan around that beautifully.
Names and groupings, sent ahead. Family photos move fast when everyone knows where to stand, and then you’re back at the party.
Ten spare minutes here and there keeps the whole day relaxed. Relaxed people photograph beautifully.
Faces instead of screens in every photograph, and your guests get to actually be there too.
You’ll be looking at each other. I’ll be looking at everyone else.
Your mother during the vows. Your grandfather and the ring bearer, deep in conversation. The friend who cried before you did. These are often the photographs couples end up loving most, because they never saw them happen.
Family photos get the same care: organized, quick and genuinely flattering, so the portraits your parents frame are as good as the ones you frame.
“Margaux caught so much stuff we completely missed. Little looks, people laughing, our parents during the ceremony, random moments happening across the room. … And then mixed in with all of that are these gorgeous portraits that look like they belong in a magazine.”Lauren + Matt
Some photographs get stronger when color steps aside. Black and white pulls the eye to gesture, light and expression. I use it deliberately, alongside color, never as a blanket filter.
“We are so grateful for Margaux’s perspective. Her work is true art, and we are forever grateful she shared it with our family.”Siobhan, mother of the bride
“Having Margaux photograph our wedding was easily one of the best decisions we made. It is one thing to know someone is a great photographer, but it is another thing entirely to watch them capture your love story so beautifully. Margaux made everyone—from our bridal party to our grandparents—feel entirely at ease. She caught all the tiny, fleeting moments we didn’t even realize were happening.”Kaylyn + Corbin
“We were really picky about photography and knew we didn’t want anything that felt too ‘wedding-y’ or staged. Margaux totally understood that. She gave us enough direction that we never felt awkward, but nothing felt forced either. We laughed basically the entire time. And the photos are just so damn good.”Claire + Ben
“I would hire her again in a second.”Emma
