THE POINT OF IT ALL

You’ll spend months planning one day. The photographs are how you get to keep it.

I pay attention to everything you chose, from the flowers to the guest list, and to everything nobody could plan: your dad’s face, the toast that turned out to be the best speech of the night, the moment the music finally got loud.

There’s direction when it helps and quiet when it doesn’t. Years from now, these should put you right back inside the day.

HOW THE DAY GOES

01

BEFORE IT STARTS

Silk on hangers, then on you. Flowers arriving, people arriving, and one quiet minute before the door opens.

A bride in her veil, eyes lowered
A couple’s hands, arm in arm, rings visible
02

RIGHT IN IT

The ceremony, the portraits, the family, the light. All of it, as it actually happened.

03

AFTER DARK

The lights go low and the heels come off. The photographs loosen up too.

Guests in masks dancing at a reception

A LITTLE DIRECTION.
PLENTY OF ROOM.

Portrait time should feel like part of the party: the twenty minutes where the two of you get a good look at the new team.

I give enough guidance that nobody’s wondering what to do with their hands, then leave space for whatever is true to the two of you. Elegant, funny, quiet, loud: there’s room for all of it.

“I usually hate having my picture taken … Margaux had me relaxed within like five minutes. She’s funny, she’s direct, and she tells you what to do without making it weird.”Hannah

IN THEIR WORDS

“We are so grateful for Margaux’s perspective. Her work is true art, and we are forever grateful she shared it with our family.”Siobhan, mother of the bride
“We loved having Margaux and felt so stress free throughout the entire day. She somehow made us feel like we were getting so many beautiful photos while still letting us be completely present in our wedding. When we saw the gallery, we were honestly blown away. We’ve gone through it picture by picture so many times, and it makes us hug each other, laugh, smile, cry — all of it.”Kimberly + Jacob
“We were really picky about photography and knew we didn’t want anything that felt too ‘wedding-y’ or staged. Margaux totally understood that. She gave us enough direction that we never felt awkward, but nothing felt forced either. We laughed basically the entire time. And the photos are just so damn good.”Claire + Ben
“Margaux caught so much stuff we completely missed. Little looks, people laughing, our parents during the ceremony, random moments happening across the room. … And then mixed in with all of that are these gorgeous portraits that look like they belong in a magazine.”Lauren + Matt

NEAR, FAR &
SOMEWHERE BETWEEN

PDX anywhere

Costa Rica, Mexico, the Bahamas, Tennessee, California, and home in the Columbia River Gorge.

“It was hot and windy and there was so much happening, but she never seemed stressed and somehow caught everything. I love that our photos actually feel like Costa Rica too.”Sofía

THE ALBUM

Every collection includes one, because some photographs deserve a life off the screen.

Pulled off a shelf, passed across a table, rediscovered years later and eventually handed to someone who wasn’t there when it was made. It won’t get lost in a cloud account or an old phone.

And the wedding doesn’t have to be the last time. Anniversaries, new babies and the next wedding in the family are some of my favorite photographs to make.
